Becher, Kurt   (1909-1996)

SS-colonel, economic envoy of Heinrich Himmler in Hungary. He managed the takeover of the Weiss Manfréd industrial complex by the SS and the plunder of the Hungarian industry. He took part in the Kasztner negotiations and Himmler's attempt to make a peace agreement with the western Allies. Partly due to the favourable testimony of Kasztner, he avoided being called to account. After the war he created a flourishing company, probably based on the looted money of the Hungarian Jews.
